It was still technically fall in December 1987 when Bev and Jerry Barnett became parents, but most folks would have told you it was definitely winter, though. The temperature never peaked above freezing. The municipal airport in Wausau, Wisconsin reported showers of light snow. At the local hospital, Nicole Barnett was introduced to the world.
Nicole would live her life into adulthood along the banks of the Wisconsin River. It was there in Wausau that Nicole developed into a caring, earnest, and hard-working person who would be admired by peers and adored by friends. Perhaps, her most enduring quality that sits long with all those who have gotten to know her is her great sense of humor.
Nicole’s husband, Adam, had this to say about some of the qualities he loves in her, “Nicole has such a big heart and is one of the most caring and compassionate people I know. She always puts others first and never expects anything in return. Nicole has a great sense of humor and is always looking to explore new places.”
Family and friends are the core components to Nicole’s life ; for them, she always makes time to be there. Even in times of adversity or challenges, Nicole can be relied upon to show up with good humor and take life as it comes.
“Our honeymoon flight was canceled 2 hours before take-off because the weather was so hot in Las Vegas. Apparently, they were worried about the plane malfunctioning. Nicole took it all in stride and we decided to instead take a trip to Door County WI for the weekend.”
It was a cold night somewhere around 2016 that a mutual friend brought Nicole and Adam together. It was a chance meeting that grew into a life story. A story that truly announced itself in June of 2017, when the couple were married. Adam said, “Nicole is my best friend. There isn’t another person out there that I would want to spend the rest of my life with. She is beautiful inside and out, and I am so happy and lucky to have found her.”
On May 17th, 2019, Nicole wrote another, very important chapter to that story with the birth of their daughter, Kennedy Sophia Strobel. Even though Nicole’s priorities had to change, her generous spirit and love for adventure did not wane. “Nicole always puts Kennedy first. She is always making sure all her needs are met and is constantly thinking of new things that we can all enjoy together. Her favorite thing in the world is to see that little girl’s face light up with joy and excitement.”
Adam in reflection of his wife said, “Nicole is the rock of our family; she is strong and supportive. We would be completely lost without her, and I really want her to know just how much we appreciate all the things she does for us. We love her more than anything in this world and we can’t wait to continue making new memories with her for the rest of our lives.”
