Who knew a pandemic could bring two people who once lost touch closer than ever before? For Benjamin Harvitt and Lindsay Erskine, the Coronavirus Pandemic did just that.
Benjamin and Lindsay went to high school together and grew up just a few miles apart, but because of the size of their high school, they never really got to know each other. She was a cheerleader and he played soccer, but every time they passed by each other during school, there would be a smile on their faces.
They both went their separate ways after high school, both leaving home and spreading their wings. However, once the pandemic hit, Benjamin and Lindsay both decided to move back home to be closer to their families again. It was during that time they ran into each other once again, only this time it was more than a passing smile.
“Our parents live three miles apart, so we have always been close to each other in that regard,” Benjamin said. “We met at a friend’s graduation party a few years back. It was actually Cinco de Mayo when we met. She asked herself out loud, ‘Margarita or flight?’”
“‘Get the flight,’” she heard a voice say, as she looked up to see Benjamin smiling at her.
The conversation eventually led to Lindsay asking how Benjamin’s family was doing, among many other things.
Once that all happened, they decided to start going out. While it was not easy to do so during the pandemic, they made it work. They both liked each other and wanted to see where things would go from there, and they are both glad they did.
To Benjamin, Lindsay was so easy to connect with, and they had a lot in common. They both realized how caring one another was, and it did not take them long to realize how right they were for each other.
“She means the world to me,” Benjamin said. “She’s perfect in every way. She’s funny, cute and full of laughter. She’s easy to go to. All the qualities you look for in a partner are on full display.”
What else makes Lindsay who she is? Her selflessness. She would do anything for anyone at any time, and she has proven this time and again.
She has a great outlook on life too. She remains positively optimistic throughout every hardship and challenge, and she always shows the most joyous side of herself.
“Everything is with a smile,” Benjamin said. “She is very nonjudgmental. She gets along with everyone. With her, it’s always ‘please’ and ‘thank you.’ Whether you have known her your entire life or are meeting her for the first time, you instantly get along with her.”
Lindsay is a great friend to all. She is someone who gets people and connects with them on a deeper level.
She has a warm and inviting personality to go along with that great smile too. You can take one look at Lindsay and just think to yourself that she is someone you would love to become friends with.
Plus, Lindsay is someone who is always going to do things right. She is a perfectionist in a way, and that is just because she knows everyone around her deserves the best.
“She does marketing and finance,” Benjamin said. “She has a secondary job of taking photos for kids’ birthday parties, along with engagement photos. She hunts down the perfect shot – backdrop and everything. She’s always making sure everything comes out as perfect as possible.”
On top of all this, Lindsay is very much a family-oriented person. That is one of the many reasons why she and Benjamin are so compatible. They would both do anything for the good of their families.
And to be honest, it was their desires to be back home close to their families that drew them back to one another. Because they both decided to move back home, they were able to run into one another once again.
“Family is very, very important to both of us,” Benjamin said. “We are both very close to our parents. We are both very lucky to have a brother and sister too. Lindsay is very close to her sister, Jessica, and brother, Michael, as I am to Jacob and Samantha.”
“I’ve always wanted to be like my parents, Eric and Patty,” Benjamin added. “They are a perfect example of a loving partnership.”
“I finally understand what my dad means when he says he won the lottery,” Lindsay said, which is a testament to her parents. Her father, Hank, would always say he hit the lottery meeting Kathy, his wife.
Benjamin feels the same way too, as he realizes just how special Lindsay is.
And now, the two of them are one step closer to spending the rest of their lives together. Benjamin just proposed and Lindsay tearfully and happily said, “Yes.”
They are looking forward to making many more memories together, as they have created so many already. They truly enjoy being in each other’s presence, and they cannot wait to see what the future holds.
“We love traveling together,” Benjamin said. “Before we met, I traveled to many states and countries. She hadn’t traveled much, but that’s changed. Our trip to Antigua this summer was special. It was nice just the two of us. We loved being on the boat and seeing the country. It was just a beautiful getaway.”
They also just returned from Disney World, where Lindsay worked as part of her Disney College Program. They are really looking forward to traveling the world together.
For Benjamin and Lindsay, it is all about doing things together. At the end of the day, they truly do not care what it is they are doing, as long as they are with one another.
And now, as their marriage ensues, they get to spend every day together for the rest of their lives. It is one of the things they are most looking forward to, and it is easy to see why.
“One thing I am looking forward to is just spending every day together,” Benjamin said. “And to have a partner hand in hand moving forward. Life is going quickly, but to slow it down and smell the roses is very important.”
And to do so with the love of your life and your partner in crime is a thousand times better.
Lindsay is such a supportive and loving partner who brings out the best in Benjamin, and he hopes he does the same for her. She is worthy of being loved unconditionally, and that is exactly what Benjamin plans to do every moment of every day.
“I can’t wait,” Benjamin said. “Every day is going to be an adventure. We are a partnership and we are ready to go. I can’t wait to celebrate and spend the rest of my life with her!”
Congratulations to you lovebirds! May your marriage be full of happiness, joy and love!
