It was the early Fall of 1998 when the story of Matt and Erin Chubb began.
They were both students at the time, attending Virginia Tech for college in Blacksburg, VA. Matt and Erin lived in the same townhouse complex at the time, however Matt’s roommate met Erin first. When Matt returned to campus in the fall, he was eventually introduced to Erin through one of his roommates.
As Greek life activities approached, Matt accompanied Erin to her date party for her sorority. It was at this event that they kick-started their eventual romance. After hitting it off and going to Preston’s and Hokie House, Matt and Erin began officially dating and have been together ever since.
Matt still can’t believe his luck when he was introduced to Erin 24 years ago as he now gets the pleasure of calling her his wife and the mother of his two beautiful children. Their wedding was one of the best days of Matt’s life at the Raspberry Plains mansion in Leesburg, VA. Looking at Erin that day, he felt as if the two of them were the only ones on Earth.
Eventually, they picked out their first home in Centreville, and later on had their two kids together. Now, Matt marvels at Erin’s unwavering loyalty as mother every day. As a mother, Matt says that Erin is “fiercely loyal to her kids,” “always going the extra mile for them” and “always on their side, but still holds them accountable.”
Not only does she love their kids more than anything in the world, but she also attempts to make their worlds feel brighter as well. For instance, some of Matt’s favorite memories of Erin were watching her make up songs to sing for the kids as they were growing up, always attempting to put a smile on their face. “She thinks she can sing, but can’t,” Matt said. But… he loves her anyway.
Matt is incessantly grateful to be Erin’s partner and that she chose him to spend her life with. To him, she is not only kind and loyal, but the best partner and friend. She brings out the best in him, their kids and everyone she meets. She even devoted her career as an ESOL teacher to connect with kids and make a difference in their lives.
All in all, Matt, Caroline and Tyler love Erin more than she knows. She is a role model to them all and she inspires them each day to keep going even when times are tough. They are forever grateful to her for being the glue that holds the family together.
