This Valentine’s Day, we want to take time to recognize a very special person: Anne Adams. Anne lives in Rockville, MD, with her husband David, 4-year-old daughter Riley, and their dog Saylor. Anne’s day time job is in school administration, but her full time gig is being the love of David’s life.
David and Anne met when they both taught at the same school, but this relationship had a slow start. “We spent nearly a full year at work teaching right across the hall from one another and never went out,” admitted David.
Over that first year, David and Anne shared nodded hellos, friendly smiles, and pleasant small talk from the doorways of their opposing classrooms. Slowly, the hallway between them narrowed, and they started spending time together outside of school. Once that happened, it wasn’t long before they knew they had something special.
“We just clicked right away,” said David. “It got to the point where we couldn’t bear to be apart. There were many days that I would call her on the way to work, just to talk to her for a few extra minutes,” confessed David.
When asked what David loves most about Anne, he was quick to reply, “Well, she is drop dead gorgeous for starters, but she is far more than that – she is confident, she is extremely supportive, and she is so much fun.”
David went on to explain that they shared the love of watching and betting on NFL games. When they don’t attend the Washington Commanders games in person, they spend most Sundays wrapped up on the couch with the NFL RedZone locked on the TV screen.
Anne’s passion for the NFL and the thrill of covering the spread are not the only things that she loves. She is a huge movie fan; Marvel and most action movies are her favorites. Anne also enjoys reading, but most of all she absolutely adores their daughter Riley.
“She is a wonderful mother,” said David. “She is loving, genuine and patient, even during the most challenging times. She helps Riley with her handwriting, her speech and learning social cues,” added David.
One of David’s most memorable moments with Anne actually took place during a series of mishaps and a comedy of errors. After returning home from a wedding, David and Anne were headed straight to a Washington football game.
In the airport parking lot, their ticket was eaten by the ticket reader. This delay caused them to be in a rush and when they got to the game, they accidentally locked their keys, their warm clothes, and their tickets in the car!
Eventually, help arrived and security was able to let them into the car.
“It wasn’t a fun experience,” commented David. “We actually left at halftime because we were so over it, but Anne made it fun because we were together,” he said with a smile.
David admits his life is completely different thanks to the love of Anne, “Anne has helped me gain confidence, and has encouraged me as I achieved my dream job of working with dogs,” David said. “I just love her, and I am so grateful that she is my wife.”
Anne and David Adams will continue to spend their time together having fun with family, watching movies, and gambling on just about every NFL game. On this Valentine’s Day, David wants the amazing woman from across the hallway to know that the best bet he ever made was going “all in” when he asked Anne to be his wife.
