Lee Ann is the grandmother everyone wishes for. Kind, loving and giving. Always putting herself last, especially when it comes to her kids and grandchildren. And for her grandkids, they count themselves lucky to have Lee Ann as their grandmother.
Lee Ann has four grandkids: Spencer (25), Jillian (22), Alyssa (15) and Jimmy (12). All four of them look up to her and know that she would do anything for them.
“She always finds a way to show and express her love,” said her eldest granddaughter Jillian. “Whenever she can remind us she loves and cares for us, she will.”
One of her favorite things to do is spend time with her grandkids.
“When we were younger, she hosted ‘Camp Grandma,’ where she made us shirts and planned activities for us every week during the summer,” Spencer recalled.
“She also enjoys teaching us how to do the things she loves doing. Especially in the kitchen,” said Jillian. “Any time she can share a family recipe, or cook with one of us, she will.”
Lee Ann is a great cook. Always trying new recipes and encouraging quality time with family.
If she’s not spending time with family, then she’s either on the phone with her friend Eileen or watching a General Hospital. Or perfecting her many hobbies like crocheting, baking, sewing or crafting.
Aside from cooking and crocheting, her true gift is making people laugh and smile.
“She loves to laugh at herself; she’s always telling stories about her day to make others laugh,” said Jillian. “Every week when we FaceTime, she always has quirky stories to share.”
“I remember one time we were driving home from the store, and she shouted, ‘Look! A clown on a bike,” Spencer recalled. “We genuinely thought there was a clown on a bike, when it was just a person riding a bike.”
Spencer and Jillian recalled another memory with their grandmother, during one of their frequent mini-golf trips.
“One time, we were at the driving range, and Spencer hit the ball so hard that the head flew off the club. I’ve never seen her so shocked about something before,” Jillian shared, exclaiming.
“We value all the time we’ve spent together and all the memories we’ve made,” she adds.
Her grandkids appreciate her more than she will ever know. “We wouldn’t be who we are today without her,” Spencer adds.
Lee Ann is certainly doing something right, as she raised two wonderful sons and is now making an impact on her four grandchildren, and they all could not imagine life without her. She is 77 years young who is the matriarch of her family, and she is one of the good ones.
Happy Birthday! Here’s to starting another great year of laughs, new recipes and memories!
