Not many people stick in the military because it provides the best life for their child, but that is exactly why Christina Samonte has remained in the military for as long as she has. She knows that, despite the challenges that military life presents, she is helping to provide the best life possible for her son and is affording him the best opportunities for his future.
In fact, everything Christina does is for the good of her son, despite not getting to see him all the time. Aidan is her pride and joy, and she never lets her love and compassion for him waver.
“I know that, since Christina became a mom, everything she’s done has been for that child,” her sister Marsha said. “Life was not easy to her back then, but she got through it with grace and looked towards the future with hope and determination in her eyes. Every move she’s made has been for that child, and every move she ever will make for the rest of her life will be for that child.”
Marsha, Christina and their older sister Liz went through a lot growing up, and it only made them all stronger. Christina is the mother she is today because of the struggles she went through, and also because she is just an overall amazing person. She has always been a selfless individual who puts others’ needs before her own, and that makes her a very much-admired individual.
She is appreciated because her heart and soul are always in the right place, and because she is just a great friend and wife on top of being an exceptional mother. She brings out the best in everyone, especially her husband, and anyone who has Christina in their life counts themself lucky.
“She is so kind and thoughtful of other people,” her husband Samson said. “She makes so many sacrifices to provide for Aidan and I. She often stresses herself out to make sure other people are doing well. She has a very hippy kind of spirit. She cares for all humans and animals. She’s a strong supporter of equality and mental health awareness. She’s a leader in SAPR, which supports people going through sexual assault in the Navy.”
Everything Christina does in life is for the good of others. She loves people and she loves helping people, and her heart is clearly always in the right place.
“I admire her selfless endeavors most,” Samson said. “If you look at her life entirely, it has been to serve other people. She took a large part in caring for her younger sister. She joined the Navy to provide a stable future for her son. She serves the country in the military and supports me.”
Christina certainly serves her country proud, and she makes her family and friends proud to be loved by her. She is never not there, and no matter what anyone in her life is going through, they all appreciate her more than she realizes.
Christina is a memory maker too. She and Samson have been on many adventures together, from the pyramids in Mexico to the mountaintops in Colorado to the deserts in California, and Samson absolutely cherishes all the memories they have shared together with Aidan.
Marsha has not gone without making endless memories with her sister either, and at the same time her sister has always had her back. Christina has been there for her through all of life’s good and bad moments, and she has been her biggest supporter throughout her entire life.
“They say siblings who don’t have the best parents tend to protect each other more due to lack of parental guidance, and that’s so true,” Marsha said. “Christina selflessly made it her task to pick up their slack, and because of that she gained the loving title of Sister-Mom to me.”
Christina makes it a point to take care of anyone and everyone in her life, and that is why people look to her for life advice and as a shoulder to lean on. She is present, loyal, sacrificial and so much more, and her family and friends love her so, so much.
“She is a very special person to me and others. I am generally very antisocial and have anxiety and do not communicate my feelings well, so she does not hear thoughtful things from me nearly as much as she deserves. She is my person.” – Samson
