Jessica is all about two things in particular: faith and family. She is so devoted to these things that you can see them at the forefront of every aspect of her life, including her running her own business.
That business, J’s Mad Sweets, is named that because it incorporates her three biological children’s names (Malachi, Aliyah and Damian). In running that business, her husband, Justyn, said she is using one of the many gifts God gave her – baking – to serve others and honor him. She runs that business with the utmost integrity and passion you would expect from a woman who serves her Lord and Savior so fervently would.
Of course, being a God-fearing woman spills into her family life, as the two have become one in the same. Jessica loves the Lord and she loves her family with all her heart, and she has always shown her family the importance of putting God first.
“With her following the Lord, it has given her a sense of identity as a mother and a wife, and as a partner in our household,” Justyn said. “It shaped and molded her family views. It gave her a greater sense of purpose. How she leads as a wife and mother of the household.”
Jessica has three stepchildren too – Devion, Jaedyn and Cameron – whom she treats as her own. She has been so accepting of them ever since she and Justyn got together, and that is something he is eternally grateful for.
What he is also grateful for is just how wonderful a mother his wife is as a whole. She is a very hands-on mom whose love never wavers, and she somehow makes raising six children between the ages of 10 and 20 look easy.
“Jessica is pretty much a giving, nurturing mother,” Justyn said. “One of the biggest things I’ve come to love about her is her sacrifices and giving her all to her family and the household. The commitment to be at her kids’ events. Just seeing the commitment and the passion she had to being a mother and raising her kids was really what I loved about her the most.”
The moment Justyn first noticed Jessica on Facebook, he could tell there was something different about her. He decided to message her and pour his heart out there, and in laying it all on the line, she gave him a chance. He took that chance and ran with it, and here we are today talking about this wonderful couple.
In fact, as a wife, Jessica is the best there is. She is so selfless and sacrificial, and she spends so much time and effort helping to take care of him (Justyn is legally blind, and Jessica runs him to appointments, work and elsewhere). She does it all without thinking twice about it either because she loves Justyn with all her heart.
She is also his pillar of support. Justyn knows he can go to his wife for anything, and she will be his shoulder to lean on and be the Godly wife he knows she is.
“She’s always praying for me, encouraging me that Jesus will be there for us in any difficulties in our lives; always supporting me in whatever I do,” Justyn said.
A wife who prays for you and with you is a wife worth standing by. That is just one of the many reasons why Justyn appreciates Jessica so much and does not take her for granted.
He also appreciates the fact that she is a mother who stands by her beliefs. She is morally sound, and Jessica wants the kids to all understand everything they can about God and Christianity.
“She’s teaching them about following Christ,” Justyn said. “She is a Christian mother. She teaches them to be respectful and take care of business around the school. Getting good grades in school. Number one is their faith in God and treating others well and commitment to sports.”
Jessica believes that if you put your faith first, everything else will happen the way it is supposed to happen. That is what she will always stand upon, and her kids all appreciate that.
What they also appreciate is the fact that their mother is never not there. She is their number one support system and someone they – and many others – can look up to.
“I love her commitment to mentorship with her daughter’s softball team,” Justyn said. “She’s teaching them all about mentorship. She’s taking them to certain softball tournaments. She’s constantly packing up food and water for them… She’s also focused on being there for her oldest son in college and her other son in baseball. The same goes for my kids as well.”
Jessica is just an ever-present mother, and nothing is going to change that. No matter how old the kids get or how reluctant they may act, they will always need their mother, and Jessica will always be there for them.
She will always be there for others as well. Jessica is such a great friend and someone that people appreciate and look up to. The people in her life are super grateful for her, and they all know she would do anything and everything for them without hesitation.
“She’s very caring,” Justyn said. “She’s very good at listening and giving good advice. She’s always willing to fit in time to help somebody. Even if it’s a conflict with her own personal schedule. She’ll fit it in. Even with six kids in the house and a legally blind husband. It might be picking up a girl for softball. It might be helping out her mom or stepfather. She’s always looking for ways to help others. That’s the thing that drives her the most is helping those in need.”
Selflessness shines through Jessica every single day, and it does not go unnoticed either. She gives so much of herself to other people, and the people in her life want her to know how much they love that about her.
“I admire her hard work, her sacrifice for others, her love for Jesus, mentoring young ladies in softball, and starting her own business as an entrepreneur,” Justyn said.
There are thousands more reasons why he fell in love with Jessica in the first place, and they all stand true about her to this day, but what he will always love and admire about her above all else is her faith. That truly defines who she is, and he would not have it any other way.
“This season in my life has been the best thing that God has done for me, giving me her as my wife and as the stepmother of my children. No one could ask for a better mother, a better wife, or a better daughter. She is the blueprint.” – Justyn
