As the festive season sets upon the Gowen family, Daniel Gowen reflects on how the gift of Tiffany Gowen, his wife of 21 years, has transformed his life. Like lights on a Christmas tree, Tiffany has added brightness to Daniel’s world. “She is inspiring, motivated, loving, nurturing, and brings color to my black and white world,” Daniel explained.
Tiffany was a leading light long before her first encounter with Daniel. Having grown up in Bryans Road, MD, with her mother, Maureen “Mo” Gilbert, her father, Joseph Brizzi Sr., and her older brother, Joseph Brizzi Jr., Tiffany was a versatile athlete. She played a plethora of sports as a child, including softball, field hockey, and track and field.
Most notably, Tiffany became the first female wrestler in southern Maryland, which is a testament to her fortitude. “I admire her strength and her ability to inspire,” Daniel said.
A Friday night in church and a pastor playing the dual role of mutual friend and matchmaker brought Tiffany and Daniel together. Daniel recounts that, amusingly, Tiffany’s mother – and not Tiffany – first introduced herself to Daniel.
Once he and Tiffany spoke, however, the connection seemed instant. Daniel described that, after searching for his life partner for many years, he “knew she was the one.” He recalled fondly that Tiffany felt the same way as him. “We’d finally found our soulmates,” Daniel said.
Today, Daniel and Tiffany have raised four children together: Priscilla, Elijah, Gabriel and Daniel. Daniel was effusive in his praise of Tiffany’s ability to care for each child’s unique needs, all while balancing a variety of occupations.
“She has done an amazing job,” Daniel exclaimed. “She is very loving, nurturing and supportive.”
When she is not spending time with her loving family, Tiffany engages with all of the vibrance and color the world has to offer. She gardens and has pet chickens that she enjoys nurturing as well. Tiffany also frequents the gym and attends online classes, markers of her willingness to grow and better herself.
Daniel reflects happily upon an array of special memories with Tiffany, including the couple’s first years of being married, living together in the mountains of western Pennsylvania, family trips, and their children’s school events. Daniel is grateful for the blessing that Tiffany has been in his life. “She loves and puts up with a sometimes stubborn husband,” he joked.
As the family prepares for another joyous holiday season, Daniel will be able to cherish more happy moments with his wife, lover and soulmate. “I couldn’t live without her,” Daniel declared, expressing that he loves her now and forever and wishing to convey his love to her directly. “You are a wonderful wife and mother. I couldn’t imagine life without you.”
