Mom of Integrity: As she turns 80 years young, Barbara’s family reflects on the memories she’s made with them and how she has always put them first

Barbara Conroy is nothing if not devoted, caring and wonderful. She is a mother and grandmother who puts her family first and foremost, and she lives life to the fullest.

“She means everything. She’s very important to me,” Barbara’s son Rob said.

Barbara has spent the past 54-plus years being a mother above all else, and both Rob and Bryanne recognize and appreciate that. She has made sure they have everything they need, and she has always made it look easy. From the moves to the job changes, Barbara did not complain once and she made sure her kids always got acclimated.

“She’s always cared, is very supportive, has unconditional love, and loves life,” Rob said when asked what makes his mom the mom she is.

Rob remembers all the special birthday celebrations and everything in between, and that is because Barbara always made them special. The trips to Lake Tahoe, Sedona, Kauai and the Grand Tetons were all memorable too, not just because they are wonderful places to go, but because Barbara has a tendency to make life and its adventures that much greater.

Barbara has a tendency to exude some of the best personality traits possible as well. She is a woman of great character, and she is someone her kids and grandkids look up to for a reason.

“I admire Mom’s strength, independence, perseverance, character, adventurous spirit, and love of her family,” Rob said.

Barbara’s strength shines through in her ability to not ever give up. She is 80 and still kicking, and she does not let life’s obstacles bring her down.

Barbara’s independence has carried her through life as well. She might be a wonderful family woman, but she is also her own person.

Barbara’s perseverance has shone through not only as a true warrior in life, but as someone who has always crushed her goals.

Her character is completely unmatched. Barbara is someone who cares so much and gives so much, and her selflessness is cherished.

Barbara’s adventurous spirit has taken her and her family on many great excursions. From their aforementioned family trips to spontaneous golf games and watching Broadway musicals, Barbara has a knack for always living fruitfully.

Then you have her love for family, which is something her kids have always been fond of. The way Barbara raised Bryanne to be an outstanding mother in her own right will not ever be forgotten.

Neither will Barbara’s outdoorsy spirit.

“Mom loves nature, and she really loves the mountains and forests, the stars and the moon,” Rob said.

Whether she’s comparing the trees or figuring out which moon it is at night, or whether she is sitting by a body of water like a waterfall or lake, Barbara feels connected to nature. She loves it and she could spend the entirety of every day out and about.

She also would not mind playing her favorite sport every day. She was once an avid golfer, and her handicap was a lot lower than people would expect.

“She really enjoyed playing golf,” Rob said. “She played on the women’s golf team at the Hideaway in La Quinta.”

Barbara’s golf skills might not be on display as much as they used to be, but her grandmothering skills certainly are. She loves her two teenage grandchildren with all her heart, and every time they get to hang out with her they are grateful.

The two of them would probably agree with Rob’s assessment of their grandmother too. He describes her in so many different ways, and they are all nothing short of positive and loving.

“I love how Mom is caring, loving, and has high character and integrity,” Rob said.

Barbara’s integrity is unmatched. She is truthful and has strong morals and values she stands on. If you ask her a question, she is going to be straightforward and honest, and that is an underrated quality people cherish about her.

People also cherish the fact Barbara will always put them first and will always be the person at a party helping to lift up your spirits. When you are around her, you are bound to have a good time and be encouraged, and that has not changed throughout the years.

“She is a loving and dedicated mother who had a positive influence on her family and friends with many memorable experiences along the way,” Rob said.

Even the two rag doll cats acknowledge how wonderful their human mother is. Barbara spoils them and loves them, and that is a testament to her personality and the woman she is.

“I want to remind her how important she is and has been to her family. We appreciate all she has done over the years. She’s brought so much to our lives over the years, and she is a very special person.” – Rob
