Patti Spain has spent her life giving and caring for other people, a trait that she has passed on to her family through her actions.
“My mom taught me how to love and respect others by using kindness,” her son, Jimmy, said. “Trying to live my life like her has made me a better person.”
Patti worked as a hairdresser until her retirement, and although stopped working she didn’t stop doing thoughtful things for others. She has continued her giving ways by visiting retirement homes and cutting people’s hair for free and by volunteering at her church.
Her life has been spent doing things for others, but it’s the members of her family who have been the recipients of her strongest love.
“My mother is the kindest person you’ll ever meet. She has always been there for her children and grandchildren,” Jimmy said.
Patti has been married to Jim, the love of her life, for 48 years. Together they raised three children, Jimmy, Lindsey and Tommy, who have given them six grandchildren to dote on.
Their long marriage has taught their children the keys to a healthy and respectful marriage, while providing a blueprint to make all their relationships successful.
Patti is an amazing mother who isn’t afraid to get out of her comfort zone, including taking a family ski trip to Lake Tahoe when the children were younger. Her kids will always fondly remember their mom and their Aunt Jules slowly making their way down the mountain. The kids were so excited for their mom to successfully make it to the bottom.
Patti also knows that you don’t need special trips or occasions to make memories. Some of the best times Jimmy can remember are lunch dates with his mom at Grinder’s and Sunday dinners with his parents. She makes everyone around her feel important and loved just by spending time with them.
Patti has six grandchildren: Emmett, Aliyana, Natalie, Miriam, Caris, and Jimmy, who treasure every minute they get to spend with her. For her birthday, they want their beloved Nana to know how much they love her.
“Nana, you mean the world to us, and we wish you the best birthday,” the grandchildren said.
It’s a double celebration for Patti this year as Mother’s Day and her birthday are on consecutive days, and it’s fitting that a woman this special will be celebrated for multiple days.
“Mom, we hope you have a great Mother’s Day and a wonderful birthday,” Jimmy said. “We look forward to you hopefully celebrating many more birthdays with us in Florida. Mom, thank you for everything you have done and continue to do for our family. We love you more than you will ever know.”
