Life has a funny way of working itself out.
When Michael Kassal talks about his best friend, Barry Rosayn, you hear a story of making the most of life’s second chances. Barry knows what it is like to fall on hard times and have to give it your all in every opportunity that comes your way.
While not all the details are very pertinent, Barry went from working 100 hours a week to make ends meet to being one of the most successful liquor licensers known to man, and everything he does is for the good of his family
“Barry overcame a lot of adversity and a lot of difficult times,” Michael said. “He’s always been a great family man. He’s always done everything and anything for the children. Barry has very strong feelings for doing the right thing, and he is very generous with his time. He has a habit of making himself secondary, which is what you have to do when you have three children.”
Barry is a very family-oriented man, and there is not a single thing he would not do for his children. He makes sure they have everything they need at all times, and he is always providing for them.
At the same time, Michael has seen his best friend transform from someone who was just looking to work a job to pay the bills to someone who is a go-to in their industry. He is the most trusted seller of liquor licenses in the area, and he has also helped Michael’s business be in the green for 35 years running.
“He’s very, very hands-on,” Michael said. “Barry is always figuring out how to get out of problems. At the same time, there’s things I don’t want to talk to family members about, but I am comfortable talking to Barry about them. He’s even helped me cancel a credit card after it was stolen on a date. He’s just always there for me.”
On top of this, Michael said that Barry has saved his life on more than one occasion, and he is forever indebted to him, but also forever grateful to him.
Michael and Barry have been best friends for over 50 years, and that would not be possible without Barry being the most genuine, caring friend that he is. He is completely selfless and he would do anything for anyone, and Michael has always looked up to Barry.
“He’s always known what to do and has figured out problems,” Michael said. “He has also always told me what I needed to do and how to do it right. Though he is younger than me, he is like the big brother that I never had.”
Michael does not know what he would do without his best friend and his confidant, and he is glad that his family has always been a big admirer of his best friend. This friendship was clearly built to last, as it has done so for north of five decades.
Barry has been a role model in many ways to Michael, and he has been the one person he has been able to count on since he was a young boy. Barry is his best friend and one of the few people he looks up to in this world.
“May 12 will always be a very special day for me,” Michael said. “It’s Barry’s birthday, and this year he is 65. Even though it’s been a while since we were knocking around at 14, Barry has never wavered as being the kindest, loving, caring, loyal best friend who I will always value. Happy Birthday, Barry. I love you!”
