On this day 66 years ago, the world gained an angel on earth. That angel’s name is Sher Silvers, and her husband, Tom, is the one who gets to count himself lucky each and every day by calling her his wife.
Born in Tucson and raised in Santa Barbara, Sher is the youngest of four siblings, and she comes from a big family. She has numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and she learned from an early age the importance of prioritizing your family above all else.
Sher has always found a way to be there for her family (along with so many others), and because of this, Tom tells her, “Everybody loves Sher.” And he tells her a lot.
And rightfully so. Everybody who knows Sher knows how wonderful of a woman she truly is, as she has such a compassionate heart and a giving soul. She is the kind of person you want to have in your life, and she is the kind of person you want to keep in your life.
“She is an awesome human being,” Tom said. “She is great at so many things. She shows empathy to everyone: friends; co-workers; relatives. People love to interact with her, as she is always looking to make others feel happy and important to her.”
Sher is all about everyone else. She believes everyone is deserving of being loved, and she shows them that love in the way she carries herself around others.
She exudes love toward Tom as well, as she is the best wife he could ever ask for. The only thing he regrets is not meeting her earlier in life, but then again he knows he would not have his daughters.
“She is definitely my better half,” Tom said. “She is not only my wife, but my confidant and partner. She’s always had my back. She is everything I am not – the life of the party; full of funny quips; positive to a fault. People always seem to gravitate to her. I truly love her more each and every day. She makes me so complete that I am always wanting to make her life more of everything.”
When you find your soulmate, you strive to be everything you believe they deserve. And for Tom, he knows his wife deserves everything and then some. She is the most amazing, wonderful woman he has ever met, and he is thankful for that fact.
He is also thankful for the fact that his wife helped raise his daughters with him. He knows they are the amazing adults and mothers they are in their own right because of the support and love Sher shined on them every single day of their lives.
She now gets to do the same thing with her and Tom’s six grandchildren, as she is the kind of grandmother who always shows up. She spoils them and loves them beyond belief, and the family is full of gratitude toward her.
The family loves the fact that, among her always being there for them, Sher finds time to do other things she enjoys. While she enjoys spending time with family more than anything, she also has some hobbies that she is great at.
“She loves to garden – she has a perpetual green thumb,” Tom said. “She’s a great cook and is always reading good books. She’s also always keeping in touch with her many friends and family on Facebook, walking our dogs, and going to the beach for our yearly vacation all the while keeping our home immaculate.”
Sher can do it all, and she can do it all with excellence. Why Tom loves her is easy to figure out, as her personality is unmatched.
“Again, she listens to everyone and truly cares about each and every one of them,” Tom said. “Even though the kids and grandkids are not blood related, to her they are. She helped raise them all – going to appointments, meetings, recitals, school activities, et cetera. Hurting when they hurt, laughing when times are good, and always having our door open if needed.”
Sher is just always there and she is always trusted. She cares deeply and gives so much of herself.
In fact, she gives so much of herself that she does not ever ask for anything in return, which came to pass when she was battling cancer. When it came time for others to take care of her, she was reluctant, but it is because her nature is all about giving.
Speaking of which, her kicking cancer’s butt also showed Sher’s strength. She can do and get through anything, and she did just that when beating cancer.
“Not only is she a cancer survivor, but she went back to work two weeks after her surgery. I call her my stud muffin,” Tom said. “We have always opened our home to others in need. In our 35 years together, we have only been alone in our home for maybe five or six years. We have had friends; relatives; both of our fathers lived with us at the same time after our mothers passed away within two months of each other.”
That’s just Sher Silvers in a nutshell. She gives so much and never thinks twice about it. She cares so much and loves with all her heart, and for that reason and many more, she is a very beloved individual.
“We have been through many trials and tribulations. We always come out stronger in our marriage afterwards, which speaks volumes. You have always had the utmost faith in me, often I would wonder why. You have always accepted and believed in me. I respect you as a person so much. I will never ever take you for granted. We are forever blessed for however long God gives us.” – Tom
