“We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to the amazing team at Kroger. Thank you for your unwavering dedication to our program and continued partnership. Your support in feeding families, not landfills, is invaluable, and we truly appreciate the ongoing collaboration.”
The Flashfood Team and Shoppers have been lucky enough to be partnered with Kroger since June 2023. They have already established five Flashfood zones, and in that time have diverted 76,000 pounds of waste from landfills.
In their short time as partners, there have already been a few Kroger associates who have gone above and beyond for the sake of both Kroger and Flashfood. There are two associates in particular that Kroger and Flashfood want to recognize and thank for their efforts, with it being Employee Appreciation Day and all.
The first of these associates would be Andee Shirley, who works in the meat department in store #979. She “does a great job at keeping the area cleaned and maintained,” which really goes a long way in the sustainability and shelf life of these expiring food products.
Shirley’s store manager, Rusty Littell, mentioned how the partnership between Kroger and Flashfood is already bringing new customers to their store. They have one couple in particular who comes in essentially every other day and plans their meals around what the store has to offer on the app. It would not be possible without people like Shirley who work hard every day to provide a pleasant and clean environment and experience.
Kroger and Flashfood want to also recognize another associate in the meat department at a separate store (#706), John Scheible.
“We feel John has done a great job on being consistent with utilizing Flashfood from the start and was extremely positive on the program,” his store manager, Cassie Stringer, said. “John also does backup for seafood and he stepped up quickly helping the team with the process and encourages others to use the program as a customer or as a department.”
They went from getting rid of a lot of waste to being able to sell meats and seafood that are close to the expiration date, and it would not be possible without the cooperation of people like Scheible.
Both Kroger and Flashfood are very thankful for both Shirley and Scheible, as they know none of this would be possible without them and others like them. They are outstanding individuals with great hearts and a wonderful pursuit of making Flashfood a norm, and there are many grateful customers who can oblige to this.
“Thank you for putting things in Flashfood and helping us get our orders even when the service desk is busy. We have no income right now because of getting laid off, so having a chance to get food at a discounted cost is so helpful to us! We appreciate everything you all do to get food added to the app! It makes a difference for our family :-)”
“I appreciate the variety of items offered at the Franklin Kroger store through Flashfood. On one occasion, when I had purchased an item that was not in the case, the associate personally went to the back of the store and brought me another. Thanks for all you do!”
That is why Flashfood does what they do, and why stores like Kroger are starting to partner with them. It is also why associates like Shirley and Scheible are stepping right in to make a difference, and why they deserve to be celebrated each and every day.
