Imagine a man standing in front of Prosecutor Rainey Alsey from the office of the Placer County District Attorney and pleading to receive the “max.” You might have serious questions regarding his compos mentis, what you and I refer to as sanity.
However, this man is Spencer Alsey. Rainey Alsey, Prosecutor is also Rainey Alsey, love of his life. Spencer couldn’t be happier to get a life sentence with her.
“Rainey is an amazing wife and an amazing mother,” says Spencer. “She makes life so easy and is by far the best thing ever to happen to me.”
Spencer loves Christmas, he tells us, because it is “a magical day that you get to spend with amazing family and friends.” And immediately, his wife Rainey comes to mind.
Rainey was born in Seattle, Washington, to Karen and Bo Jacobson. About himself, Spencer tells us that his life began the day he met Rainey.
The two met at Buffalo Wild Wings. Rainey thought she was coming to see a group of former coworkers. Spencer, who had set up the meet, had other plans up his sleeve.
There was no group at B-Dubs, it was just Rainey and Spencer. He took a chance, tricking her like that. She might just leave him there, roasted like the 8-piece chicken dinner.
It didn’t go that way at all, needless to say. Rainey has an incredible sense of humor. And she loves Spencer.
Rainey and Spencer have another love in their life. Two-year-old Jake, who Spencer tells us, like his mother, is “amazing and funny.” He loves to see how attentive Rainey is to Jake, caring for him, and keeping him laughing.
Her sense of humor rubbed off, clearly. Asked repeatedly to say “Mommy,” Jake came up with “Da-da.” His first word! And his first joke, with much joy and laughter ahead.
Rainey Alsey exemplifies dedication – To her family, and to her important work of “putting bad people away.” She is fun-loving as well. She enjoys musicals, country music and traveling.
Some of Spencer’s best memories, he says, are trips he took with Rainey. Seeing Mexico together was a highlight that he mentions. But especially, he loved the Tahoe trip that the two went on. Seems Spencer had another trick up his sleeve.
In Tahoe, Spencer proposed to Rainey while the two sped along a zip line. There was no need for deliberation – the answer was yes!
So, this Christmas Day, Spencer Alsey is determined to show the special people in his life just how much he appreciates them. Again, he immediately thinks of Rainey. His message to her is simple but hits the heart like an arrow from Cupid.
“When life gets tough, you’ll always have me. Even if we should fight, please know that I’ll always be right here for you. I love you forever and ever, my darling.”
In light of all the testimony, a life sentence seems pretty fair.
