Sue Lombardo has always cared for her son Joe, raising him and his siblings with manners that are complimented by others, and always working to keep food on their table and clothes on their backs.
Sue is incredibly kind, caring, and empathetic toward everyone that surrounds her. She is the type of person that just helps, despite being asked or not. She is a constant support system to her children and is always looked to, especially now that she is widowed – the connection between her and Dominick was one for the record books, by the way.
“The truth is my mom will always be there for whoever needs her,” said Joe. “She loves her kids and grandkids and will always make their pain subside with hugs, kisses or food. Always ready to make a meal from scratch just because.”
Despite being raised in a strict household, Sue had a firm parenting technique that also had a soft side when necessary. She is described as their rock that could bend when the time called for it.
“She just cares for everyone around her,” said Joe. “She gives without thought and is always willing to help with anything.”
Sue and Joe enjoy the small moments together, whether it is their shared love for “fine dining” or watching superhero movies, they just enjoy spending quality time together.
“There was a time when my mom wanted to know what my favorite meal was so she could make it special for me one night,” said Joe. “Without knowing, she asked her boss at the time to ask me the question so she could know and surprise me.”
Speaking of meals, Joe was pleasantly surprised when one day his mom wanted him to take her out for a nice meal and she ordered off the specials menu. She was a cheap date that night!
Currently, Sue works as a part-time retirement job clerk for her daughter’s after school program center, but before this, she worked as an administrative assistant at a public high school.
Aside from her work and her mom-life, Sue enjoys watching detective shows and superhero movies. She also enjoys cooking and spending time with her family. Her least favorite activity is talking politics.
As a person, it is admirable how selfless and caring Sue is to her children and those in her life, no matter what hardships are thrown at her or her family in life.
“My mom means everything to me,” Joe said. “I didn’t get to pick her but I’m so happy I won that lottery.”
Joe says that for however much longer he can show his mom he loves her, he will.
Joe also mentioned that Sue has been a great role model, a good parent, and overall just a good person.
“I just want her to know that ‘I love her the most’ and that it’s ok to cry, just not by herself. The strongest one of us is the one that knows alone fixes nothing.” – Joe
“Nonna always is kind and makes my day, every day.” – Lucas
“Nonna will love me always and will always be there for me.” – Shano
“She is an amazing second mother and I’m so grateful to have her in my life.” – Katie
“Although I’m her favorite, she was always honest with me in the most caring and thoughtful way possible.” – Joe
