She’s a Keeper: This is how Nicolas and so many other people feel about MaFe

Maria Fernanda Soriano (aka MaFe) is full of grit, heart and determination. She is also a devoted daughter, sister, wife and mother. She would do anything for anyone, and she never lets life get her down.

In fact, just a few short years ago, Maria was diagnosed with brain cancer. After her dream of having a baby came true, not even half a year later she had a seizure and ultimately endured a fight against cancer. It was not always easy, but she persevered, knocking the cancer out and making it to the other side stronger and tougher than ever before.

That battle was one of the many things that constantly reminds people what a great role model MaFe is. She’s not just a great role model to her children either, but to her family and friends.

However, it is her role modeless, along with many other things, that make Maria stand out as a mother. She would do anything for her daughter Demi and for her stepdaughter Jocy too, who she treats as her own.

From keeping up with her daughters’ grades to making sure they are getting to their activities on time, Maria is there for them. She is an ever-present force in their lives, and she is someone they both can always count on.

“I’ve learned how to become a better father, not only to our youngest daughter Demi, but my oldest daughter Jocy,” Maria’s husband Nicolas said. “Maria encourages me to call my daughter Jocy every day. We love to spend as much time as possible with Jocy during the week, and especially weekends, since she doesn’t live with us. As a man, Maria teaches me to be selfless and more caring. And to show everyone a little more time. She’s made me a better person. She’s made me strive to be better as a person, friend, uncle and brother. She’s always pushing me.”

Maria brings out the best in everyone, and that is because she shows her best day in and day out. She remains optimistic in life and always wants what is best for everyone, and that is special.

What is also special is the fact that Maria lives and breathes family. While she enjoys some occasional time to herself and she has a great work ethic and loyalty at her job, there is nothing that comes between Maria and her family. She will protect them and love them at all costs.

“Maria’s whole life is family – Nick, their daughter Demi and her stepdaughter Jocy,” Maria’s mother Lisette said. “They spend time together. They travel. She loves her family.”

At the end of the day, it does not matter what they are doing, as long as they are together. As much as Maria loves to travel and she loves to get out and adventure, what makes those things worthwhile are getting to do them with family.

She is not just a family woman either, as Maria treats her friends well too. She is selfless in her ways and she cherishes her friendships, and she proves that time and again.

“She treats people really well,” Lisette said. “She will help you if you need help. She works as an engineer. She tries to treat the people in a very nice way. She’s so sweet. She plans great things and parties for everyone.”

They actually just got back from a family trip from Florida in which Maria had a big hand in helping to make it a truly awesome trip. She planned some fun things and made that family time memorable.

Maria is a very genuine person as well. She has a huge heart and is constantly looking for ways to help out her friends. She knows people inside and out, and this is very much appreciated by many people.

“What makes her good to others is just how caring she is about everyone else,” Nicolas said. “She talks a lot and is a very good listener as well. She is thoughtful. She will get you a gift that is extremely thoughtful. She is a beautiful person inside and out. She brings out the best in me as a man and as a human being. She has that effect on people and her friends.”

If you share a room with Maria and do not feel inclined to treat people the right way and to be a better person, then you clearly are not close enough to her. Maria has a lasting impact on so many people, and so many of those people around her are thankful for this fact.

Well, there you have it. Maria is a truly wonderful, perseverant, loving individual with a heart for family and for people, and she deserves to be celebrated day in and day out.

“I want to remind her how special she is and the impact she has around people’s lives. It is always positive and you always get her best. And that’s simply because of the advice that she provides. She makes you feel confident. She’s just an overall really good person. That doesn’t go unnoticed.”
