Black Friday and Cyber Monday are both right around the corner, so you are bound to search for some of the best deals around town. A lot of times, those deals wind up coming from the big corporate box stores.
We’re here to remind you not to forget about the little guy during these November sales. There is no question most retail stores and companies that sell goods make a majority of their business during holidays and during certain times of the year.
Small businesses like us are no different.
In fact, for many small and even medium sized businesses, holiday sales are make or break. A lot of companies cannot survive if they do not have a good Black Friday and beyond, they might not last much longer.
So, what’s my point?
My point here is not to make you feel bad for shopping at the big name places like Amazon and Walmart. In fact, many small businesses are starting to sell on Amazon more than they used to.
No, what I am saying is that you should consider who you are giving your business to when you do your Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping. You might not get the lowest deals all the time, but wouldn’t it be satisfying to know you are supporting small and medium sized businesses?
There are a lot of people out there who would prefer to give their business to small businesses than anyone else, so why not have the same mindset? Getting a special gift for a loved one that you know was not mass produced can be so satisfying.
All this is not to say that you should only shop small. In fact, I would encourage a combination of both. I think it is okay to get gifts from both corporate stores and small businesses.
However, again I would encourage you to look at supporting small businesses this holiday season first and foremost. There are so many out there that are just trying to survive and they offer a wonderful service. They might just struggle to build their brand and therefore cannot afford to compete with the big guys.
So, shop small this holiday season. Whether its here at MyFrontPageStory.com or elsewhere, you won’t regret it!
