Super Appreciated: Above everything else, people love being around Mekka and having her in their lives

“We met in the summer of 1994 while working in the summer at Eaton Corp. Our first date was a trip to McDonald’s for food. After we ate and talked for a minute, I fell asleep on the couch in her lap. I knew she was the one by how she carried herself and how smart and beautiful she was. I got confirmation from my grandmother when she told me that anyone who carries her Bible around is good for you.”

For James Nelson, the story he just told of his and Mekka’s first interactions serves as a great reminder of just how amazing his wife is. From the moment he met her, he felt comfortable around her, and nothing has changed.

And now, after 26 years of marriage, James and Mekka can confidently say that the only person they have served more than each other is God. He is their rock and their firm foundation, and they consider themselves to be a very equally yoked couple.

James certainly considers himself to be super blessed, as he has a wife with a great personality and a fear of God. She is no nonsense, honest, kind, forgiving, compassionate, positive, a listening ear, funny, and so much more. She is selfless and gives her all to others as an attorney, a friend and a wife.

Even more importantly, Mekka gives her all to her children. She is willing to do anything and everything for them, and Jordann and Asa are grateful for their mother.

James also knows James Roger III is looking down on his mother as a guardian angel as well, as she is just so special.

“What makes her a good mother is love, patience, nurturing, empathy, resilience and the ability to provide emotional support,” James said. “And also being attentive, understanding and actively involved in our children’s life.”

Mekka loves to love, and she is super selfless toward her kids and everyone else.

She has also brought James out of his comfort zone, and he feels she has made him a better husband and father in many ways.

Mekka is a tremendously loyal individual too, and she is as straightforward as they come. She says what she means, and she is not afraid to be herself.

“She is honest and will always tell you the truth no matter what,” James said. “She is a woman who is forgiving. She is very nurturing. She is a great listener and has a memory like an elephant. She knows what she wants in life and isn’t afraid to speak her mind. She is very intelligent and stunningly beautiful.”

James went on to mention his wife’s emotional intelligence, along with being firm yet gentle. She is a classy woman who carries herself well, and she expects nothing but the best out of herself and others.

She also thoroughly enjoys spending time with her loved ones. Some of James’ fondest memories are their trips (including his visit when she was at an internship in Brooklyn), and he is just grateful to share so many memories with the love of his life.

Mekka is his everything, and he cannot imagine being without her.

“During this process, it helped me realize what she means to me and what a wonderful woman she is when you sit and think about it. It made me open my mind to all the wonderful things she is and the things that she does for myself and our children. It also helped me understand why other people think so highly of her.” – James
