In the Jango household, stillness has not been a virtue. They are a family that has always been on the go, and that is all thanks to their matriarch, Tanna.
Born in Mississippi, Tanna took a leap of faith when she moved up north to Massachusetts way back when. She did not know anyone there, but what she did know was that was where she and her husband, Thomas, were going to start a life together. And ever since that moment, she has not taken a moment’s rest.
“She is able to put up with our dad every day, which I don’t think anyone else in the world could do… She supports our dad when necessary and doesn’t deal with his nonsense,” her son John said.
For as long as anyone can remember, Tanna has been a very devoted wife. She has been the one person who her husband can rely upon, and no matter the shenanigans he makes her deal with, she sticks by his side through and through.
“She is so much more than a ‘great wife,’ and all the same reasons that make her a great wife make her an incredible mom,” their daughter Karlie said. “She is patient and kind and willing to put others’ needs before her own. She makes sure everyone and everything is taken care of before taking care of her own needs.”
If you had to think of an overarching theme regarding Tanna’s life, one of them would be selflessness. She is the kind of individual who does not let anyone around her go without, and she is always looking for ways to help.
This includes with her children, as she has always been a top-notch mom. She is the kind of mother who sacrificed so much and went above and beyond for her children… especially when she spoiled them with her southern home cooking.
“She’s just a blessing to be honest,” Tanna’s son Michael said. “She had four kids (that’s not easy). There’s always work. She made it to all our sporting events. She picked up photography from taking pictures at our sporting events. She became a professional photographer through that. Anything she does, she is great at.”
Tanna has never wanted to miss a moment, and she certainly captured many of them too. She made sure to have photos her kids could show their kids one day.
She also became a role model to her four kids early on in their lives. John, Karlie, Michael and Mark all look up to their mother, and with good reason. She is someone who not only instilled so much in them through words, but through her everyday actions.
“My mother taught me what it’s like to be selfless and kind,” Mark said. “I’ve never known anyone who does as much as my mom does to make other people happy.”
At the end of the day, what matters most to Tanna is that everyone around her has a smile on their face. She already knows how to live life to the fullest, and she encourages others to do the same.
“I have learned many things from my mom: patience, selflessness, what it looks like to put 100 percent into everything you do, and what unconditional love looks like,” Karlie added.
Work hard and give it your all. That is what Tanna has done throughout the entirety of her life, and her work ethic is something her children have always seen in her.
“She has a special place in her heart for people with disabilities. Helping in places where most people really can’t connect with,” Michael said. “Helping them learn and grow. From there she just excelled. She ended up getting a principal position to help change what she could for the school. She was always keeping everyone else’s best interest in mind.”
That’s Tanna in a nutshell. She wants everyone else to be afforded the best opportunities, and she has been hands-on in that regard throughout her life.
Tanna’s children just love her so much and cannot speak highly enough about her. They realize everything they have and are in life is because of their mother, and they are super grateful for this fact.
“She means the world to me,” Mark said. “She shows me what it means to be loved unconditionally and her presence makes the people around her better. She truly is an angel.”
It cannot be harped upon enough how much Tanna truly does for everyone all around her. She is just a creative, intelligent, inspiring woman with the biggest heart and a whole lot of love for others. Even her free time is filled with doing things for others, showing the utmost compassion someone can show to others.
“She means everything to me and our family,” John said. “She is the glue that keeps us all together, especially dealing with our father. She is SuperWoman!”
There is no arguing the fact that the Jango kids could not do it without their wonderful mother. She has been there for them all since day one, being the most amazing wife and mother anyone could ask for. She is a true matriarch, and she is truly appreciated.
“I would like my mother to know just how many lives she has touched over the years and how much of a blessing she is to everyone that has ever met her.” – Michael
