The constant love, care, compassion and dedication put forth by Sherry Kraft is amazing.
For starters, she spent a lot of time as a stay-at-home mom when her three boys were growing up. And they will tell you that none of them were the easiest sons to deal with.
She then purchased a small food distributor in York, PA, back in 1988 with her husband Frank, and that was something that definitely took a lot of work. She handles the accounting side of things, and when she first started doing this, she was again doing it while raising three sons.
Sherry is also someone who has a huge heart. She loves her friends and family, and she is constantly there for others. She treats people right, and that has always stood out to her boys.
“Mom is the kindest, most honorable, honest, fairest, loving soul, and she is smart and crafty,” Sherry’s son Chris said. “I almost forgot: AMAZING!”
Todd, Chris and Scott all realize just how much of an exceptional mother Sherry is. They know they are the direct beneficiaries of having a mother who would do anything for their children, and for that they are thankful.
They are also thankful for the living example Sherry is of hard work. On top of that, she is constantly harping on the importance of family, both of which have helped Scott in carrying on the family business.
“Currently, I am the only son working in the family business,” he said. “Seeing how much of themselves they put into Reisinger Poultry makes me want to do whatever it takes to ensure the continued success and growth of their business. It’s their legacy and THAT will live forever!!”
No matter what ultimately happens with Reisinger Poultry, the roots of how it really got its jump to where it is today is amazing. It was something that, when Sherry and Frank took it over, they both knew it was going to take a lot of “elbow grease” to get it to a point of being truly successful. And with the innumerable hours they both put into running the business while raising a family is nothing to shake a stick at.
“Where she started in life and where she is now, and the fact that she is still the same person is what I admire about Mom,” Scott said. “Growing up We did not have money. Her and Frank took a MASSIVE risk when they bought Reisinger Poultry. They worked sooooo hard to grow the business, and they earned every dollar they have now.”
If there is one thing that you should remember Sherry Kraft for, it is her work ethic. She believes that you should work hard to get to where you want to be in life, and that is exactly what she did with her husband.
Sherry should also be thought of as not only a great mother, but a wonderful grandmother. While so much of her legacy in her life so far is built around her family business, she is also building a legacy as a grandmother of six.
“It’s her undivided attention when she’s with her grandkids,” Chris said. “Mom’s always wanting to make sure they are happy when they’re around.”
And just like she spent a lot of years instilling important life lessons into her sons, Sherry is doing the same for her granddaughters and grandsons. She is showing them the way of life, and she is a great role model to be learning from.
“Us boys tend to learn a lot on our own. Trial and error type stuff! But with age, you realize how right she was all the time,” Chris said. “Mom was teaching us that life isn’t always fair, but you make the best of what life deals you. Always do your best, be fair and be honest.”
Life is what you make of it, and Sherry has certainly made the most of her life. Rather than wallow in pity when she and her husband did not have much money to raise her boys, she was proactive and made something out of nothing. There is a lesson to be learned here, and that should not come as a surprise, as Sherry is full of wisdom and lessons.
“I know I sometimes still frustrate her. When she’s away in Florida for the winter, I don’t talk to her as much as I should, and I know she worries about me (still) during those times we don’t talk. But I want her to know that she is ALWAYS on my mind. She is ALWAYS influencing myself, my actions and my life in a way I could never put into words…… AND I LOVE HER SOOOO MUCH every day!!” – Scott
